Production and sale of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Carpino Fava Bean
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
The Cannarozzi’s craftmanship comes from an old tradition, where, on the Gargano promontory, they have been working cultivated fields and olive groves for generations.
The extra virgin oil produced from the harvest tells the story of this land, the hard work behind the seasons with the ploughing, pruning as well as the harvest activities of the precious fruit of so much dedication.
All the production is directly and manually run by the owner Michele Cannarozzi to guarantee an excellent high-quality product.
CARPINO FAVA BEANS
It is a native legume of this land, shown in the Atlante dei Prodotti Tipici di Puglia (Atlas of Typical Products of Puglia) under the name of “Vicia Faba Major – Ecotype Carpino Fava bean”.
It is planted at the end of November/start of December and it follows a particular production since it is all hand-held: it is harvested in the middle of May or the end of the same month, tied in sheaves left to further dry in field and then crushed (Pesatura/Weighing), ventilated and at the end selected.
The Carpino Fava bean is rich in proteins, mineral salts and vitamins; it also contains the L-dopa precursor to dopamine (used in patients with Parkinson’s disease).
From 2002, Carpino Fava bean is part of the Slow Food Presidium.
In the 2014, it has been chosen as one of the main ingredients of the Legumes Soup prepared for and eaten by the astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti in the Orbital Space Station.
